We are looking for a Junior Systems Engineer to support the engineering management and development of maritime autonomous systems across Kraken’s existing product portfolio and emerging prototype platforms. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an early‑career engineer to gain hands‑on experience across the full engineering lifecycle while working within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
You will support systems engineering activities from requirements capture and concept development through to integration, verification, and acceptance testing, gaining exposure to hardware, software, and system‑level engineering in a real‑world autonomy environment.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting with the capture, definition, and documentation of system requirements from internal and external stakeholders
- Supporting design and development teams by providing systems engineering input during concept, design, and integration phases
- Contributing to system architecture descriptions, interface definitions, and design documentation
- Supporting coordination of engineering activities to ensure alignment across disciplines
- Participating in system verification, validation, and acceptance testing of products and prototypes
- Assisting with engineering processes including configuration management, change control, and documentation management
- Supporting the production of technical documentation such as requirements specifications, test plans, and design review material
- Collaborating with suppliers, partners, classification societies, and internal teams to support effective delivery of engineering projects
What we're looking for
- Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Aerospace, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to break down complex systems into structured elements
- Good verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and logically
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop within a systems engineering role
Desirable experience

- Exposure to maritime, autonomy, robotics, or related engineering sectors
- Familiarity with systems engineering concepts and lifecycle processes
- Experience contributing to multidisciplinary projects involving both hardware and software integration
